Drone App, Which One Do I Use?
How to Choose the Correct Drone App
I often hear new drone buyers asking me. “What drone app do I utilize for my new drone? With so many drone apps on the app store; I can understand the confusion. I always recommend using the manufactures default drone app that was made for the particular drone in question. That seems like a pretty easy solution; but, new drone pilots often install the wrong app for their new drone. For instance, For instance, I have a friend named Rob that purchased the Parrot AR Drone 2.0. He called me very upset that his drone would not work. He was ready to take the Parrot AR Drone 2.0 back to the store. I said, “Did you look at the instruction manual?” Rob replied, “well, no.” I said, “How did you know what Drone App to download then? Rob stated, “Well, I took the drone out of the box, charged the battery, and went to the app store and searched for ‘drone app’.” I stated, “Did you search for a particular drone app or did you install the first one you saw?” “The first one I saw.” This is a common mistake. Not all drone apps will work with your manufactured drone. In fact, there are hundreds of drone apps for hundreds of different manufactured drones. Rule of thumb, always search drone app with your manufacturer in mind. If you are unsure what drone app to choose, go to your mobile device’s app store and search “Manufacture Name” + “Drone App”. Rob should have searched Parrot AR Drone App. His result would of lead him to the Parrot AR Drone App. To help you out, I compiled a list of common drones and the proper apps for your use:
